4 Must-watch Narco shows on Netflix

When you think of drug kingpins, you probably picture Pablo Escobar. You think of him and his infamous Medellín Cartel, which at one point produced 80% of the world's cocaine. And for good reason: He was a ruthless, cunning businessman who changed the game forever with his innovative strategies and ruthlessness that resulted in thousands of deaths.

But there are plenty of other stories to be told! I’ve developed a list of "Narco" shows on Netflix that we predict will become just as popular as Escobar's story—in no particular order.

Let’s start with Narcos, of course. Narcos is one of the most popular series on Netflix today. People love Narcos because it tells a gripping story about the rise and fall of Pablo Escobar, a man who became one of the most powerful drug lords in history. The story tracks Pablo's life from his roots in a poverty-stricken village to running the Medellín cocaine cartel. While it's a dramatization, Narcos is based on real events and real people, including Escobar himself. It also offers a unique look at the extent to which he was supported or opposed by different governments. This show will leave you enthralled.

The second is El Chapo, which follows the rise and fall of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán from his humble beginnings as a farmer to his reign as head of Mexico's most powerful drug trafficking organization until his recapture in 2016. El Chapo is another popular show on Netflix today. It's known for its heavy action, suspenseful storyline, and intense characters. This show takes you through Joaquin's life and background, showing you how he rose to lead one of the most successful cartels in history. El Chapo was largely filmed while Guzmán was in prison, so you can see first-hand how he interacts with other inmates and guards, as well as how much time he spends thinking about his family. Even though it

If you're looking for something a little lighter, El Camino might be right up your alley. This show was created by Netflix as a response to Narcos—it takes place almost 30 years before the events in Narcos, and deals with the rise of drug trafficking in Mexico during the 1980s. It's not nearly as serious as Narcos; it's lighthearted and fun!

Last but not the least, Queen of the South - This Spanish-language drama is so popular—and you know what that means: hours of binge watching! One thing you'll love about this show is the female lead, Teresa Mendoza. She's had a tough life but she's managed to make something of herself as the boss at a drug cartel and definitely does not take guff from anybody! You find yourself sucked into this one by Alice Braga's performance—it's like a telenovela come to life! And then it gets even crazier from there! I highly recommend it if you like your drama fast-paced and full of twists (and really hot guys).

Netflix really knows how to make a hit drama. They have turned the world of drug production into an entertaining show. With interesting characters, high stakes and ingenious problem solving, you will definitely keep watching.
